CBSE Class 12 English Sample Papers 2026-27
Prepare for your Class 12 CBSE English Core (Code 301) board exam with 20 original sample papers, each modelled on the prescribed question paper pattern: three sections, 80 marks, 3-hour format. 459 pages, with a complete answer key after every paper.
What's Inside
Each paper follows the three-section structure. Section A, Reading Skills (22 marks): an unseen passage of roughly 500 words with 12 marks of comprehension, vocabulary and inference questions, followed by a case-based passage worth 10 marks built around a comparative data table. Section B, Creative Writing Skills (18 marks): a notice in 50 words, a formal or informal invitation in 50 words, a letter in 120–150 words such as a job application with bio-data or a letter to the editor, and a report or article in 120–150 words. Section C, Literature (40 marks): three extract-based questions, five short answers of 40–50 words from Flamingo, two from Vistas, and two long answers of 120–150 words, one on Flamingo and one on Vistas.
Every question in Section B carries an either/or choice, and Sections A and C give you a choice of extracts and a set to attempt any five or any two from, so the paper works the same way the real one does.
That comes to 40 original passages across the book: 20 unseen reading passages and 20 case-based passages, each with its own purpose-built data table on subjects such as school commute patterns, and each carrying a printed note that the figures are constructed for examination practice.
The extract-based questions in Section C use original verse and prose written in response to the prescribed texts, for example a poem written in response to 'My Mother at Sixty-Six' or 'Keeping Quiet', and a prose passage written in response to 'The Last Lesson'. The questions test the same imagery, tone and theme work the board asks for. The short and long answer questions refer to the Flamingo and Vistas chapters and poems by name.
Answer keys give model answers for every written question, not just the objective ones. Notices, invitations, letters, reports and articles are written out in full in correct format, MCQ answers carry a line of reasoning, and the 40–50 word and 120–150 word answers are written to the word limit so you can see what a full-mark response looks like.
Topics Covered
Reading: main idea, inference, vocabulary in context, tone, data interpretation and drawing conclusions from a table and passage together. Writing: notice writing, formal and informal invitations, letters of application with bio-data, letters to the editor, report writing and article writing. Literature: the prescribed Flamingo prose and poetry and the Vistas supplementary reader, covering theme, character, symbolism, tone and comparative questions across two texts.
Difficulty Levels
Papers are labelled individually: 7 Easy, 7 Medium and 6 Hard. The Easy papers keep questions close to the surface of the text. The Hard papers ask for comparison across two chapters, analysis of tone and structure, and evaluative responses that take a position and defend it.

Reviews
Overall very satisfied. The easy papers are genuinely easy and hard papers are genuinely hard, the difficulty is not just random. One small thing I felt is that some writing section prompts could be more creative and less repetitive across papers but that is a minor point. At this price it is absolutely worth buying. I bought English and Accountancy both from Future Topper and both are good quality.
Started these papers in February, finished all 20 before boards. Did easy papers first, then medium, then hard. By the time I reached hard papers my confidence was very different from when I started. English was always my weak subject but I ended up scoring 81 in boards. These papers deserve credit for that.
The literature questions cover both prose and poetry properly. Not just the obvious questions, some questions are quite application based which makes you actually think about the text. I liked that very much. Answer keys for literature are also detailed and not just one liner points.
Bhai the answer keys are the real thing here. Step wise model answers for every question. I used to not know how to write long answers in English exam properly but after seeing the model answers I understood the format completely. Highly recommended.
20 papers. 49 rupees. Just buy it.
Bought this for my son who was weak in the writing skills section. Letter writing, notice, advertisement type questions he always used to lose marks. The model answers in the answer key are very well written and gave him a clear idea of what examiner expects. His writing has improved noticeably after practicing from these papers. Would recommend to every class 12 student.
I was always confused about how to balance time between Reading, Writing and Literature sections in English exam. After practicing these papers I got a proper sense of timing for each section. The papers are exactly like real exam pattern with internal choices also. Very helpful for class 12 boards.
English exam is 3 hours and I always used to rush in the end. Practicing these papers with timer helped me figure out that I was spending too much time on reading section. Now I finish comfortably. This kind of exam simulation you cannot get from just reading the textbook.
The case based passages with graphical data tables are very well made. My English teacher always said this type of question is becoming more common in boards and these papers have plenty of practice for it. Good work Future Topper.
20 papers with proper Easy to Hard progression made my preparation very systematic. Section A reading passages are highly original and case-based graphical questions match the latest CBSE pattern exactly.
