RRB Technician Syllabus

The RRB Technician examination 2027 is conducted by the Railway Recruitment Boards for Technician Grade I (Signal) and Technician Grade III (various trades) posts in Indian Railways. Technicians are responsible for the technical maintenance, repair, and upkeep of railway infrastructure, rolling stock, signalling systems, and various technical installations. Posts are spread across multiple departments including Electrical, Mechanical, Signal and Telecommunication (S&T), and others.

The qualification requirement is typically an ITI certificate (NCVT/SCVT) in the relevant trade for Technician Grade III posts and a Diploma or Degree in Engineering for Technician Grade I posts. The selection process involves CBT 1 (preliminary) and CBT 2 (main with trade-specific questions), Document Verification, and Medical Examination.

Preparation Tips for RRB Technician 2027

1. General Science is the Highest-Scoring Subject in CBT 1

With 40 marks from General Science in CBT 1 and an additional 20 marks from Physics and Chemistry in CBT 2, science topics collectively carry massive weightage. Revise Class 10 NCERT Science thoroughly, then revisit Class 12 Physics and Chemistry for CBT 2.

2. Master Your Trade Syllabus for CBT 2

The 100-mark trade section in CBT 2 is the primary differentiator. Study from your ITI trade theory books (published by NCVT or respective state boards) and solve previous RRB Technician and SSC JE technical papers for your trade.

FAQs: RRB Technician

Q1. What is the difference between RRB Technician and RRB JE?

RRB JE (Junior Engineer) is a supervisory engineering post at Level 6 requiring a Degree or Diploma. RRB Technician is a trade-level post at Level 2 or 5, primarily requiring an ITI certificate. JE is a higher-ranked post with greater supervisory responsibilities.

Q2. Is Technician Gr I Signal the same as Technician Gr III?

No. Technician Gr I Signal (Level 5) requires a Degree/Diploma in Electronics/Electrical/IT and is a higher-level post. Technician Gr III (Level 2) posts require ITI qualification.

Q3. Is there a physical test for RRB Technician?

No. There is no physical efficiency or measurement test for RRB Technician posts. Selection is based on CBT 1 and CBT 2 performance, Document Verification, and Medical Examination.
