RRB RPF SI Syllabus

The RPF Sub-Inspector (SI) examination 2027 is conducted by the Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) for recruitment to Sub-Inspector (Executive) posts in the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF). RPF Sub-Inspectors are gazetted officer-level supervisors in the railway security force, responsible for supervising Constables and overseeing the protection of railway passengers and property.

The RPF SI examination pattern is identical in subject structure to the RPF Constable examination (same three subjects, same 120-question, 90-minute format) but is set at a higher difficulty level commensurate with the graduation-level qualification requirement. The minimum qualification for RPF SI is a Bachelor's Degree from a recognised university. The age limit is also different (20 to 28 years versus 18 to 28 for Constable).

Preparation Tips for RPF SI 2027

1. Study RPF and Railway Acts Specifically

Unlike other RRB examinations, RPF SI has specific questions on RPF Act 1957, Railways Act 1989, and Railway Property (Unlawful Possession) Act 1966. Read these Acts directly from government sources and prepare notes on key provisions, penalties, and powers.

2. Prepare at Graduation-Level Difficulty

Do not rely on Class 10 level preparation. The RPF SI paper, particularly in Arithmetic and Reasoning, is noticeably harder than the Constable paper. Practise from Banking PO and SSC CGL level question banks for more appropriate difficulty calibration.

3. Achieve Well Above Cut-Off in CBT

Given the highly competitive nature of RPF SI selection and the limited number of posts, aim for a CBT score comfortably above the expected cut-off. Every additional mark in CBT is critical since all shortlisting (before physical stages) is entirely merit-based on CBT scores.

FAQs: RPF SI

Q1. What is the difference between RPF SI and RPF Constable?

RPF SI is a gazetted supervisory officer post (Level 6) requiring a graduate degree, with higher physical and PMT standards. RPF Constable is a Level 3 non-gazetted post requiring only 10th pass. SI has greater responsibilities including commanding Constables and conducting investigations.

Q2. Is there any interview in the RPF SI selection?

No. There is no interview in the RPF SI selection process. Selection is based entirely on CBT merit (after qualifying PET, PMT, and Medical).

Q3. Can Constables be promoted to SI?

Yes. RPF provides departmental promotion opportunities for Constables to reach the Sub-Inspector rank over the course of their service, subject to meeting educational and service requirements.
