ISC Class 12 Biology Specimen Paper 2026-27
The ISC Class 12 Biology specimen papers are full-length practice papers written by the Future Topper team on the paper pattern set by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), for students appearing in the ISC board examination. They follow the board's design for the Biology paper: the sections, the type of questions, the internal choices and the marks carried by each question.
For Class 12 students, solving the Biology specimen papers is one of the most reliable ways to understand the board's expectations before the final exam. On this page you can download both ISC Class 12 Biology specimen paper PDFs, check the latest paper pattern, see which topics the paper tests and follow a practical plan to use the paper for maximum marks.

ISC Class 12 Biology Exam Pattern 2026-27
The Biology examination has a written theory paper set and marked by CISCE, and an internal assessment component completed in school. Our specimen papers follow the same structure.
Component | Marks | Duration |
Paper I: Theory | 70 | 3 hours |
Paper II: Practical | 15 | 3 hours |
Project Work | 10 | Completed in school |
Practical File | 5 | Completed in school |
How the Question Paper Is Structured
The theory paper is divided into sections, from objective and very short questions to short-answer and long-answer questions. All questions are compulsory, with internal choices in some. Labelled diagrams and genetics problems carry significant marks.
Always read the instructions printed at the top of the specimen paper. They state which questions are compulsory, how many questions to attempt from each section and whether any special materials are allowed. We word them to match the board paper.
Topics Covered in the ISC Class 12 Biology Specimen Paper
Our specimen papers draw questions from across the prescribed Biology syllabus. The main areas you should be ready for are:
• Reproduction in plants and humans, and reproductive health
• Genetics and evolution
• Biology and human welfare
• Biotechnology and its applications
• Ecology and environment
For the complete unit-wise list with sub-topics, read the ISC Class 12 Biology Syllabus.
Why You Should Solve the Biology Specimen Paper
• Understand the paper design: you see the order of sections, question types and choices before the exam day.
• Learn how marks are distributed: the marks in brackets tell you how long and detailed each answer should be.
• Practise competency-based questions: CISCE papers increasingly test application and reasoning, and our paper carries questions in the same style.
• Build exam-day timing: one full attempt under timed conditions shows where you lose minutes.
• Find weak areas early: questions you cannot answer point directly to the topics you need to revise.
• Understand marking: the answer key supplied with the paper shows how marks are credited for steps, keywords and diagrams.
How to Use the ISC Class 12 Biology Specimen Paper Effectively
1. Complete at least one full revision of the Biology syllabus before your first attempt.
2. Download the first paper and print it, so the attempt feels like the real exam.
3. Sit the paper in one go for 3 hours, plus 15 minutes of reading time, with no notes or phone.
4. Evaluate your answers against the answer key supplied with the paper.
5. List every mistake by type: concept gaps, careless errors, presentation and time management.
6. Revise the weak topics, then attempt the second paper after two to three weeks.
7. Follow up with previous years' question papers and full-length practice papers for wider coverage.
Suggested Time Plan for the Paper
Stage | Suggested time | What to do |
Reading time | 15 minutes | Read every question, mark your choices and plan the order of attempt. |
Short and objective questions | 60 minutes | Answer quickly and accurately; do not overwrite answers. |
Long and choice-based questions | 105 minutes | Attempt your strongest questions first, with full working, diagrams or examples. |
Final review | 15 minutes | Check units, labels, question numbers and any skipped sub-parts. |
This works out to roughly 2.57 minutes per mark. Adjust the split to match the section marks printed on the specimen paper.
Expert Tips to Score High in ISC Class 12 Biology
• Draw neat, labelled diagrams of reproductive structures, genetic crosses and processes.
• Practise genetics and molecular basis of inheritance problems step by step.
• Use precise terminology, especially in reasoning questions.
• Learn examples for every concept in biology and human welfare, such as microbes and their uses.
• Revise ecology concepts with flowcharts of cycles and pyramids.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
• Skipping units in numericals or writing the final answer without substitution.
• Unlabelled or carelessly drawn diagrams.
• Writing a single word for a 'give reasons' question that needs a full explanation.
• Leaving out smaller units during revision, even though the compulsory section covers every unit.
