Unit V — Ecology and Environment: Chapter 11: Organisms and Populations (Population Growth, r and K Selection, Species Interactions), Chapter 12: Ecosystem (Energy Flow, Ecological Pyramids, Nutrient Cycles, Decomposition), Chapter 13: Biodiversity and Conservation (IUCN Categories, Hotspots, In-situ/Ex-situ Conservation, Project Tiger, CITES)
Structure of Each Chapter
Every chapter is divided into five sections: Section A — 15 MCQs (including 3–5 image-based questions referencing original diagrams), Section B — Short Answer I (2 marks), Section C — Short Answer II (3 marks), Section D — Long Answer (5 marks), and Section E — 15–20 additional practice questions. Each chapter closes with an Examiner's Tip box highlighting frequently tested topics.
Diagrams and Visual Content
The book contains 28 original biology diagrams embedded within questions, covering DNA double helix, PCR cycle, gel electrophoresis, Punnett squares, pedigree charts, malaria life cycle, antibody structure, lac operon, ecosystem energy flow, nutrient cycles, population growth curves, and more. Image-based questions appear in MCQ sections throughout.
Additional Note
The preface notes that the ISC Class 12 Biology syllabus overlaps significantly with the NEET Biology syllabus, making this resource potentially useful for students preparing for both.

Reviews
All 13 ISC Biology chapters are covered with 55+ questions per chapter across five question section types and the 28 original biology diagrams with image-based MCQs are a genuinely valuable feature. A few Chapter 5 Molecular Biology and Chapter 9 Biotechnology questions cover similar central dogma and rDNA process steps from slightly different angles. That said, the Examiner's Tips and the Section E additional practice questions make this a very worthwhile purchase for ISC Class 12 Biology students at this price.
rDNA Technology, restriction enzymes, PCR steps, gel electrophoresis interpretation, bioreactors, recombinant insulin, GM crops, gene therapy, GEAC, biopiracy — Chapters 9 and 10 cover the full Biotechnology unit with genuine depth. Image-based PCR and gel electrophoresis questions are excellent.
School provided limited Biology practice questions. This filled the gap across all 13 chapters with appropriate depth. The Examiner's Tips guided my revision efficiently. Some Chapter 9 Biotechnology principle questions follow similar restriction enzyme function formats. Good resource.
DNA structure, semi-conservative replication, transcription with promoter and terminator details, translation with codons and tRNA, lac operon induction and repression, HGP, DNA fingerprinting — Chapter 5 is the most detailed Molecular Biology chapter I have seen in an ISC resource.
All 13 chapters across all 5 units with 28 original diagrams and Examiner's Tips is impressive. Biotechnology and Genetics are the standout chapters. A few Chapter 7 Human Health MCQs follow similar immunity type identification formats. Still the best ISC Biology resource I found.
The Genetics pedigree analysis questions with original pedigree chart images are the strongest feature of this resource and the Biotechnology unit receives outstanding treatment. Some Chapter 11 and Chapter 12 ecology questions across Section B and C cover similar species interaction and energy flow content. Considering the 28 original diagrams and the comprehensive 13-chapter coverage at 49 rupees, this remains an excellent purchase for ISC Biology board preparation.
Population growth models with r and K selection, species interactions with examples, energy flow and ecological pyramids, nutrient cycles with diagrams, decomposition stages, IUCN threat categories, biodiversity hotspots, Project Tiger, CITES — all covered comprehensively across Chapters 11-13.
Consistent 55+ questions per chapter with five section types across all 13 chapters is exactly the right volume and structure. Ecology chapters are strong. Some Chapter 4 Genetics pedigree questions across Section C and D follow similar autosomal recessive analysis formats. Good overall.
DNA double helix, PCR cycle, gel electrophoresis, pedigree charts, malaria life cycle, antibody structure, lac operon, ecosystem energy flow — all embedded within questions. Having diagram-based questions to practice rather than just diagrams to memorise made a real difference.
The Examiner's Tips per chapter made my final revision highly targeted. Section E additional questions pushed understanding beyond the main sections. A few Chapter 8 Microbes questions follow similar biofertiliser identification formats. Still a very worthwhile purchase.
