POCSO guides for every adult around a child

Child protection does not work when only one group is trained. A teacher who knows the reporting duty is limited if the parents do not know what to teach at home, and a child who has never been given the words is unlikely to tell either of them. These guides are written to work together.

POCSO for educators and school staff

The POCSO Act, 2012 places a reporting duty on every person, not just designated officers. In a school that means every teacher, and also drivers, security staff, canteen and housekeeping staff. Failing to report is itself an offence, and a heavier penalty applies to a person in charge of an institution who fails to report an offence involving someone under their control.

POCSO guides in Hindi

The Hindi edition uses the statutory terminology from the Hindi text of the Act rather than independent translation, and includes an English-Hindi glossary so schools and families can use the same terms as the police and the authorities.

About this material

These guides are grounded in the text of the POCSO Act, 2012, the POCSO (Amendment) Act, 2019 and the POCSO Rules, 2020, and reflect Supreme Court decisions up to July 2026. Where a provision could not be confirmed against a current official source, the guides flag it rather than stating it as settled law. Offences and warning signs are described in clinical and behavioural terms only, and all illustrative scenarios are fictional composites.
