SSC MTS Syllabus
The SSC MTS exam is a single computer-based test split into two sessions. Session 1 covers maths and reasoning with no negative marking. Session 2 covers general awareness and English, and wrong answers there cost you one mark each.
Havaldar candidates who clear the cut-off also sit a physical efficiency test and physical standard test. MTS candidates do not.

SSC MTS subject-wise syllabus
Numerical and Mathematical Ability
Integers and whole numbers, LCM and HCF, decimals and fractions, BODMAS, percentage, ratio and proportion, work and time, direct and inverse proportion, averages, simple interest, profit and loss, discount, area and perimeter of basic shapes, distance and time and reading simple graphs and tables.
Reasoning Ability and Problem Solving
Alphanumeric series, analogy, coding and decoding, pattern recognition, odd one out, blood relations, directions, Venn diagrams, missing numbers, mirror and water images and basic puzzles.
General Awareness
Indian and world geography, history, culture, polity, economics, general science, environment, current events, sports, awards and important schemes.
English Language and Comprehension
Vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms, error spotting, fill in the blanks, sentence improvement, idioms and a reading passage.
Havaldar PET and PST
Men walk 1,600 metres in 15 minutes. Women walk 1 km in 20 minutes. Height, chest and weight standards apply as per the notification.
FAQs on the SSC MTS Syllabus
Is there negative marking in SSC MTS Session 1?
No. Session 1 has no negative marking, so attempt every question.
Do both sessions count for SSC MTS merit?
Yes, but Session 2 is evaluated only if you clear the Session 1 qualifying marks.
Is the SSC MTS exam available in regional languages?
Yes. Apart from English and Hindi, the paper is offered in 13 regional languages.
