SSC CPO Syllabus

SSC CPO recruits Sub-Inspectors for Delhi Police and the CAPFs. Paper 1 tests four subjects at graduate level. Candidates who clear it take the PET and PST, and those who pass move on to Paper 2, which is entirely English.

Both papers carry 200 marks and together decide your merit. Paper 2 often decides the final rank, because many candidates treat it as an afterthought.

SSC CPO subject-wise syllabus

General Intelligence and Reasoning

Analogies, similarities and differences, space visualisation, problem solving, analysis, judgement, decision making, visual memory, discrimination, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, number series, non-verbal series, statement and conclusion, plus coding and decoding.

General Knowledge and General Awareness

Current events, history, culture, geography, economic scene, general polity and scientific research, with questions on India and its neighbouring countries.

Quantitative Aptitude

Number systems, percentage, ratio, averages, interest, profit and loss, discount, partnership, mixture and alligation, time and distance, time and work, algebra, geometry, mensuration, trigonometry and data interpretation.

English Comprehension (Paper 1) and Paper 2

Error recognition, fill in the blanks, vocabulary, spellings, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms, sentence completion, phrases and idiomatic use of words and comprehension. Paper 2 covers the same ground in greater depth across 200 questions.

PET

Men run 100 metres in 16 seconds and 1.6 km in 6.5 minutes, plus long jump and shot put. Women run 100 metres in 18 seconds and 800 metres in 4 minutes, plus long jump.
