Fifty marks in Paper 1 that need no calculation and no engineering. Along with reasoning, this is the half of Paper 1 that has nothing to do with your branch and everything to do with your rank.

What the Commission says about the standard
Questions test current events and matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspect. They cover India and its neighbouring countries, particularly history, culture, geography, the economic scene, general polity, the Constitution and scientific research.
The Commission adds that questions are set for a candidate who has not made a special study of any discipline. That is a real limit on depth and it means breadth of reading beats intensity.
SSC JE General Awareness syllabus, topic wise
History
Ancient, medieval and modern India. The freedom struggle, major dynasties, important movements, along with well known dates and figures.
Geography
Indian and world physical geography, rivers, mountains, climate, soils, agriculture, minerals, industries and national parks.
Indian polity and the Constitution
The Constitution, fundamental rights and duties, Parliament, the judiciary, constitutional bodies and amendments.
Economic scene
Basic economic concepts, budget and taxation, banking and the Reserve Bank of India, inflation and current government schemes.
General science and scientific research
Physics, chemistry and biology at school standard, everyday applications, together with recent developments in science, space and technology.
Static general knowledge
Art and culture, festivals, monuments, books and authors, important days, national symbols, sports and organisations with their headquarters.
Current events
Usually the eight to twelve months before the exam. Schemes, appointments, awards, sports, summits and science developments.
A note for engineering candidates
This is usually the weakest section for SSC JE candidates and the reason is structural rather than personal. A technical diploma or degree does not build a habit of general reading, and three years of it can leave a real gap.
The gap closes with time rather than effort. Twenty minutes of newspaper reading a day from the start of your preparation covers current affairs comfortably by the exam. The same twenty minutes attempted in the final month does not.
Static topics can be worked in short weekly blocks. History, geography and polity at this level are school syllabus material and a standard general knowledge book covers what is needed.
Infrastructure and public works questions are worth a small extra look. Major projects, schemes relating to roads, railways, water and power, and the ministries behind them turn up more often in this paper than in the general SSC exams, and they overlap with knowledge you already have.
How to prepare
Read daily and revise weekly. There is no compressed version of this section and it does not respond to last minute effort.
Anchor static facts to news. A scheme in the news carries its ministry, its constitutional basis and the geography it applies to.
Answer selectively. At 0.25 per error on a one mark question, a two option guess is worth taking and a blind guess is roughly neutral.

Is General Awareness asked in SSC JE Paper 2?
No. Paper 2 is entirely General Engineering in your chosen branch.
How many months of current affairs should I cover?

0.25 marks for each wrong answer.
